MUSEUM SUBRAUM

The conceived AR app enables digital art exhibitions in trains, as well as interaction through forums. Museums can exhibit beyond their physical spaces. The flexible concept is suitable for various cities, as trains are similar worldwide. Users can connect, discuss, and explore museum content digitally. The art platform creates new opportunities for cultural exchange and innovative perspectives for art mediation in public spaces.

Task

This thesis does not primarily stem from an interest in immersive technologies, but rather from a personal fascination with train travel and the associated spaces. Train stations are not just points of connection between places, but also social hubs. They serve as canvases for street art and provide space for art. Train stations and trains could make a significant contribution to art education, especially for those who find art less accessible.

Idea

Based on this consideration, the idea arose to exhibit art in trains. The limited availability of space poses a challenge. The solution lies in using immersive technologies, particularly Augmented Reality (AR), to overcome space constraints. A smartphone application could enable passengers to experience a digital exhibition, presenting innovative forms of digital art and thereby expanding the potential for cultural education.
